Hispanics
is the largest ethnic group in United States with over 37
million people. Is a group racially diverse that represents
over 20 countries but united by their language and values.
In greater
Cincinnati, Latinos had grown
significantly in the last five years and are integrated in
our communities. There are various local radios shows and
newspapers. There are many Hispanic Festivals during the
year that attract thousands of people. Multinationals like
Chiquita, GE and P&G had been relocating Hispanics for
years. But because of their cultures, language, traditions
or simply nobody has reached them; they do not know the good
news of salvation. Jesus said “Go into all the world and the
preach the good news to all creation”. In the United States
we have a very interesting situation; the “world” has come
to us to be preached. As Christians is as having missions in
our own country.
Hispanics
are very attached to their cultural expressions like music,
food and most important their language. The most effective
way to evangelize them is in Spanish. That will facilitate
the comprehension of the Bible and enable them praise and
worship Jesus effectively. To achieve that is important to
provide the Hispanic community a place where they can gather
on Sundays with their families and learn the Bible.
Iglesia
de Dios Roca de Refugio (Rock of Refuge Church of God) is
Cornerstone’s Church Spanish speaking ministry to the
Hispanic community of greater Cincinnati. The ministry
provides social help and bridge the gap between our
cultures.
